SKETCH MODELS
Through out the year, i have used sketch models to generate ideas for most of my projects. This is the best way i know how to engage my ideas with the tasks set out.
THE BASKET
The very first project we did, asked us to find an object and investigating it thoroughly. I found my object (wire basket) in a charity shop, not too far from where i live. Because it was a very straight forward item, my basket was abit boring so i looked for ways of disecting the space within it, to make it interesting.
HASTINGS PROJECT
Hastings is a coastal town in the South East of England in the county of East Sussex. Two out of four projects set out for us this year were located in Hastings town, so we got to explore a section of the town quite abit. The last project asked us to design an Idea Centre on a selected site in Hastings, next to the beach. The idea centre would be a place where artists can exhibit their work, and a place where people can generate ideas or just think.
The Site In Hastings And Surrounding Area
The locals wanted something simple, to match the exsisting architecture, and not something that would be too obvious. The problem was the current architecture is fairly boring and so rather than working with the design, i worked on emphasising the building and surrounds through my choice of materials. I focused on emphasising the pedestrian experience in the hopes that it would encourage people to walk and explore the land on foot, rather than drive around.

Shadows From Proposal
Shadows created from the bulding and railing would create an interesting pedestrian experience and hopefully encourage people to walk rather than drive.
